Austin graduated as a lawyer from the University of Malta in 1975 and became a partner in Malta’s oldest law firm founded by his father, also a lawyer. Austin was Secretary General of Malta’s Nationalist Party between 1987 and 1997, a Member of Parliament and Minister between 1998 and 2013, holding various portfolios including Justice, Investments, Industry, IT, Communications, Energy and Transport. Austin was appointed chairman of Hili Logistics in 2013.
Melo joined the Hili family business in 1988 and was appointed managing director of Motherwell Bridge, then a joint venture with Motherwell Bridge Group of Scotland. He later also headed the company’s Italian operation and was a board member of Motherwell Bridge Bhicam in the Bahamas. Melo was named developmental licencee for McDonald’s in Malta in 2005, for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 2007, for Greece in 2011 and for Romania in 2016. Melo is chief executive of Hili Company’s parent Hili Ventures, its McDonald’s division Premier Capital and its engineering division Motherwell Bridge Industries. He is a member of the supervisory board of the Ronald McDonald Charity Foundation in Latvia and Malta.
Steve is a certified management consultant and sits on a number of company boards in the UK, Malta and Germany. He has been involved in more than 20 mergers and acquisitions, and is a specialist in supporting organisations in change and people. Steve established Mdina International, his management and people consultancy in 1980, after an apprenticeship in engineering and a career in sales in the UK. He has delivered bespoke training programmes to thousands of people within organisations of all sizes in more than 30 countries. Mdina International has offices in the UK, Malta and Germany. Steve is chairman of Hili Ventures.
Richard is a certified public accountant. He is managing director (transactions and major projects) of Hili Ventures and sits on a number of boards within the group. He joined the organisation in 1989 as a financial controller and has since been extensively involved in the growth of the group’s companies. Richard previously occupied senior roles at KPMG Malta, formerly Joe Tabone and Co., within the firm’s consultancy division. He was responsible for several companies in diverse industries, based in Malta and abroad.
Ossama has worked with CMA CGM since 1993. For 13 years until 2006, he was Deputy Manager of CMA CGM at Damietta Port in his native Egypt where he was responsible for commercial and operations. He then moved to Libya as Owner’s representative, reporting to CMA CGM’s head office in Marseille. In 2012, he joined Libyan Waves for Shipping Agencies in Tripoli, the CMA CGM agent in Libya, as General Manager. In Jul-15 he moved to CMA CGM Malta Agency LTD., as General Manager until end of Feb-17. Since March 2017 Ossama has been leading Hili Logistics as the CEO. Ossama has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Egypt’s Mansoura University.
Fersun worked for CMA CGM Shipping Agency AS Istanbul since 2006 before moving to Malta with her family in 2017. She held various roles within the company, including Market Analyst, Export Sales Manager, Export Manager and, most recently, Commercial Manager. She previously worked at Anadolu Shipping Agency in Istanbul where she was Sales Executive for P&O.
